Meet Our Staff
The staff of the Pre-Health Advising Office are here to provide UGA students and alumni with the information and support necessary to successfully apply to professional programs in the healthcare field.
Gregory Spillers, PhD
Dr. Gregory Spillers joined the Pre-Health Advising Office in August 2016 to serve as Director. In this position, Greg oversees the transition of the Pre-Health Advising Office to include not only students interested in medicine and dentistry but also those interested in allied-health and nursing careers. He is also responsible for leading the team of pre-health advisors to support the needs of undergraduates at UGA, assisting them in choosing programs, completing pre-requisite requirements, and submitting their application. Additionally, Greg serves as a liaison between the University of Georgia and graduate healthcare professional programs both in the state of Georgia and nationwide.
Before joining the Pre-Health Advising Office, Greg worked as an academic advisor in the Division of Biological Sciences at the University of Georgia for several years. This position provided him with extensive knowledge of the undergraduate curriculum at UGA, especially within the life and physical sciences. Greg received his BA from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro and both his MS and PhD from the University of Georgia.
Caroline Piotrowski, M.A.
Caroline Piotrowski joined the Pre-Health Advising Office in November 2016. She works with pre-medical students at all levels — freshman to alumni — helping guide them through the maze of admissions requirements and the application process. Prior to joining our office, she was the departmental advisor for Microbiology and worked primarily with junior and senior students many of whom were interested in pursuing careers in healthcare.
Caroline graduated from the University of Georgia with an A.B. in Japanese Language & Literature and an M.A. in Religion focusing on Pure Land Buddhism.
Amanda Spohn, M.Ed.
Amanda Spohn joined the Pre-Health Advising Office in December 2016. She works with the pre-dental and pre-optometry students — helping guide them through the process for gaining admission into dental and optometry school. Prior to joining our office, she was the departmental advisor for the Lamar Dodd School of Art and worked primarily with sophomore, junior and senior Art and Art History students.
Amanda graduated from The Ohio State University with a B.A. in Political Science and earned her M.Ed. at Ashland University.
Pamela Tolbert has worked in the pre-professional offices of Pre-Law Advising and Pre-Health Advising Office for the past 10 years, providing administrative support. As the administrative specialist, she serves as the office manager and administrative specialist for both programs. In this role she manages the operations of the office and provides administrative support to the program directors, including coordinating and assisting with programming and events. She supports the advising staff by scheduling student advising appointments and helps to address inquiries concerning student files, application timelines and procedures for law, medical, dental, and optometry schools. She manages the coordination of compiling, preparing, and submission of the faculty letter of evaluation/recommendation packets for the Pre-Health Advising Office and serves as the website and social media administrator for the Pre-Law Advising Program.
Ms. Tolbert graduated from Georgia College and State University with a BBA degree in management of information systems.
